About Us
Formed in 2009, Advice Derbyshire is a member organisation that exists to represent independent advice agencies working across the County of Derbyshire. We work with our members to put service users at the heart of what we do, seeking to improve the quality of advice, build capacity, share resources and provide a voice for the wider advice sector. Advice Derbyshire is financially assisted by the BIG Lottery Fund, Lloyds TSB Foundation and Citizens Advice.
Our Work
Advice Derbyshire deliver a broad programme of activity, including:
Our Members
Advice Derbyshire is made up of seven lead agencies, these are: Chesterfield
CAB, Chesterfield Law Centre, Derbyshire Dales, Amber Valley and Erewash CAB,
Derbyshire Unemployed Workers’ Centre, High Peak CAB, North East Derbyshire
CAB and South Derbyshire CAB. In addition to this Advice Derbyshire has a
growing list of Network Members, including Release
(Financial) Charitable Trust and Futures Homescape.
These organisations offer free and independent advice on issues including debt, welfare benefits, employment, discrimination and housing. These services are invaluable to our communities, ensuring that the people of Derbyshire have access to the advice, assistance and representation that is central to tackling inequality and improving people’s lives.
In 2010 alone these agencies provided advice on over £30 million worth of debt and assisted clients in claiming £20 million worth of income that goes back into the Derbyshire economy. We couldn’t achieve this without our active and committed volunteer workforce, who last year gave almost 60,000 hours of their time to help people across Derbyshire.
